We originally had our ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday, August 8th. Robin decided to call an audible and has changed the date to this Friday, August 3rd. We changed it so Grandma Kathy might be able to be with us before she leaves to go back to Florida. That and the fact we wanted to know what we were having three months ago. Hopefully we will have some pictures to post soon.

Week 18 Picture
Here is a picture of Robin at 18 weeks with her Grandma in Indiana. I didn't get a side profile last week, but will make sure we get one this week. This picture was taken when we were on our whirlwind tour of the Midwest. We visited parents, grandparents, and lots of other family. I also had to include a picture of our nephew Gassime in Michigan.

Doctor's Appointment
We went to the Doctor's office today and heard the heartbeat again, it was 152. The Nurse scheduled our ultrasound for two weeks from today. We are both excited for this appointment to hopefully find out the answer to whether we are having a boy or a girl. Robin is fairly neutral about wanting a boy or a girl. I am not as neutral as I know I want a boy, I would like the balance of power to shift towards the male side. I really feel that we will have a girl, partly because that is what all of our friends keep telling us. I know that whatever happens I will ultimately be happy with either a boy or a girl (at least that is what I am telling myself).

Papa-in-training tries babysitting
I was excited about the opportunity to be the babysitter for Jesse's son Elliot for an evening. It started out great as we played in the front room, but the evening got a little bumpy quickly after that when we tried to eat dinner. Elliot appeared pretty happy until we sat at the table to eat. At that point he realized it was just him and I and he began crying. I could not get him to eat and struggled to find ways to get him to stop crying. I called Jesse and she said to go outside. As soon as I put his sandals and hat on he was happy, we walked down to the park. Elliot walked practically the whole way by himself. He enjoyed playing at the park for about an hour and then we walked back. He decided he would have some milk, but that was all I could get him to eat. I decided to try and get Elliot ready for bed, he was not particularly interested in having me do that either. After getting ready for bed he and I read some books on the couch and he went to bed. Elliot was definitely happier when he woke up to find his mom there. I got a good lesson in parenting and the question is.... what have I gotten myself into to?

Week 15 Picture

This is a photo of Robin at 15 weeks, looks a lot like last weeks photo. We have cleared out the room that is soon to be the nursery and are excited to start putting some of the baby clothes in the closet. The room was a dark purple and has been primed over so we can paint it a little lighter color. Jeff is looking forward to getting the painting done before football season begins.

Cat's out of the bag
There is still no concrete evidence to say that we have a healthy fetus, but that has not stopped overanxious Grandmas to tell people about the pregnancy. We ourselves have let some people know, but really were trying our best to wait until we heard the heartbeat. Thanks for the wishes of congratulations from all of the people that we didn't even know knew. Seriously we are alright with it as we know you are excited to get it out to the media as quickly as possible.

Garage sale hunting
Although we have not heard the heartbeat yet, we decided to take part in shopping at the North Liberty citywide garage sale. We went shopping pretty hard for the best bargains from 7AM until 1PM. In that amount of time we were able to buy any Hawkeye apparel available for a baby whether it would be a boy or a girl. We also found an exersaucer, baby swing, humidifier, non Hawkeye baby clothes, and some other assorted necessities for the baby.
